Accessibility statement
What this store is built to, what we test, and what to do if something here gets in your way.
What we aim for
We build this store to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard US courts and the Department of Justice point to, and it is the one the theme is measured against rather than an aspiration written on a page.
What we actually check, and how
Every text element on every page is measured against the colour actually behind it — not the colour we intended, the composited result — and must clear 4.5:1, or 3:1 at large sizes. Interactive controls are measured at phone width and must be at least 44 pixels tall. These are automated checks run on every build, not a one-off audit. Where a check has failed we have fixed it rather than filed it.
Keyboard and screen readers
Every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and focus is visible when you do. Disclosures use the browser’s own <details> element, so they behave the way your assistive technology already expects. Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers rather than announced.
Motion
If your device is set to reduce motion, the animated parts of the site — the moving guitar pick in the header and the string that rings with it — stop. Nothing on this site flashes, and nothing moves that you cannot stop by changing that setting.
Where we know we fall short
Two things on this site are not fully in our control. The customer review widget is supplied by a third party and we cannot correct its markup, only its placement. Checkout is hosted by Shopify and follows their accessibility work, not ours. We are not claiming either is perfect.
Tell us and we will fix it
If something here blocks you, tell us and describe what happened and what you were using. This reaches Rise8 directly. We will reply, and if the fix is ours we will make it — and if you need something from the store in the meantime, we will take the order however is easiest for you.
